Additional Details on Madden NFL 25 Connected Franchise Unveiled

More information on Connected Franchise mode in Madden NFL 25 has been released.

In addition to features revealed earlier in the week, Connected Franchise will also include the ability to start an offline or online league with a Fantasy Draft before starting a franchise and the addition of branching draft storylines by Adam Schefter and Trey Wingo.

Electronic Arts Reveals Next-Gen Game Engine at Xbox One Reveal Event

The Xbox One wasn’t the only next-gen news to hit the Internet today.

EA unveiled the “EA Sports Ignite” game engine during the Xbox One reveal event, which is designed for next-gen sports titles.

FIFA, Madden NFL, NBA Live and UFC will all use the engine, which EA says will exceed the animation limitations of current sports games by a “factor of ten.”

Owner Mode Returns in Madden NFL 25, Connected Franchise Details Revealed

One of Madden’s most requested modes is making its return in Madden NFL 25.

Owner Mode has been added to this year’s Connected Franchise mode (previously named Connected Careers in Madden NFL 13), giving users the ability to take control of the day-to-day operations of your team, including marketing spend, managing stadium upgrades and/or team relocation. Owner Mode was previously introduced in Madden NFL 2004 and last seen in Madden NFL 08.

In addition, Connected Franchise includes several other changes besides Owner Mode, including a new interface, retuned progression and trade logic, full 32-team control and the ability to import draft classes from NCAA Football 14.

NHL 14 to Include One Touch Dekes, Improved Physics

Simplifying dekes and improving the physics system are two of the new gameplay changes EA Sports revealed in its latest NHL 14 blog.

Dekes can now be done by using the left stick and one button. Previous titles required use of a shoulder button and both sticks.

The True Performance Skating physics engine also returns with improved speed and momentum balance, quicker pivots and enhanced lateral skating.

Electronic Arts Kills Online Pass

The EA Online Pass is no more.

Online Pass required those who bought used EA titles to buy a “pass” to access online content. This created another revenue stream for the company and was also a way for them to make money off of the used game industry.

EA spokesperson John Reseburg stated in an email conversation with VentureBeat that “many players didn’t respond to the format.”

Online Pass was widely criticized by gamers when it was introduced in 2010. However, other game companies followed EA’s lead, creating their own version of the online pass.

EA reported the Online Pass program garnered between $10 and $15 million in its first year.

Ultimate Team Added to NCAA Football 14

EA Sports’ infamous Ultimate Team mode has made its way onto NCAA Football 14.

The mode is similar to Madden’s Ultimate Team, where you build a custom team by collecting individual players in the form of cards.

However, no current college players will be in NCAA Football 14 Ultimate Team. Instead, the mode will include over 1,400 former college players.

Defensive Controls Detailed in Latest Madden NFL 25 Blog

New information on some of the new changes on the defensive side of the ball in Madden NFL 25 have been revealed.

Updates of note include the increased possibility of jarring the ball loose with the hit stick when an offensive player uses one of the new precision modifier moves, a defensive-assist option dubbed “Heat Seeker Tackling” and additional tuning to dives and defensive reactions to the ball.

NBA 2K14 Release Date Confirmed, May be Coming to Next-Gen Consoles

In an investors call this week, Take-Two Interactive unveiled the release date of October 1 for NBA 2K14.

The consoles NBA 2K14 is slated to released on is “to be determined,” opening the possibility that it will be released on next-gen consoles. Last year’s installment was released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, WiiU, iOS, Playstation Portable and Android.

If NBA 2K14 comes out on next-gen consoles, it will result in a head-to-head matchup between rival EA Sports, who announced that their latest NBA Live title will come out on next-gen.

WWE 2K14 Release Date Revealed

Take-Two Interactive, parent company of 2K Sports, has revealed that WWE 2K14 will be released on October 29.

WWE 2K14, which will include The Rock as the cover athlete, will be available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

It has yet to be confirmed that the game will release on other consoles, but WWE has stated that it will be published “across all major platforms and distribution channels.”

Splash Brothers Get Rating Bump in NBA 2K13 Roster Update

Stephen Curry (87 to 88) and Klay Thompson (72 to 75) of the Golden State Warriors were among the few players who received a ratings boost in the latest NBA 2K13 roster update.

Nate Robinson (82 to 83) of the Chicago Bulls was the only other player to get a bump.

Amare Stoudemire, Tiago Splitter and David Lee have returned from injury as well. Kent Bazemore was finally added to the Warriors bench, however 19 other players still remain missing from their respective lineups.

EA Sports Extends Exclusive License with FIFA

EA and FIFA have agreed to extend their exclusive license until December 31, 2022.

Under the agreement, EA keeps exclusive rights to FIFA-branded games, which includes exclusive rights to release the official FIFA World Cup video game.

The news comes a day after EA announced that FIFA 13 sold 14.5 million units through March.

NBA Live Slated for Release on Next-Gen Consoles

The NBA Live series is expected to make its return on next-gen consoles later this year.

According to Kotaku, EA Labels President Frank Gibeau told investors in a quarterly earnings call that the company plans “a full reveal at E3 including more next generation titles in development. This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA Live, and Need for Speed.”

The last NBA Live game released was NBA Live 10. The next version of Live, NBA Elite 11, was scrapped a week before launch in 2010. Plans for the series to make its return last year were cancelled as well.

Gasol Gets Ratings Bump in Latest NBA 2K13 Roster Update

2K Sports has released another NBA 2K13 roster update with very few changes.

The only updates include a 2 point ratings bump for Grizzlies C Marc Gasol (83 to 85). Luol Deng of the Bulls and David Lee of the Warriors have also been reinserted into their respective lineups after returning from injury.

Stephen Curry, who is arguably the hottest player in the NBA Playoffs right now, was untouched in the update.

Dozens of players still remain missing from lineups, including Ben Hansbrough of the Indiana Pacers and Kent Bazemore of the Warriors.

Dubbed as the ability to “Run Free,” players have the ability to chain together over 35 different moves with the new precision modifier button.

EA Calls Audible, Not Releasing Madden NFL 25 for Wii U

Madden NFL 25 will not be coming out on Nintendo’s Wii U console.

According to NintendoWorldReport, EA Sports has decided to not release the game for the new console. There has been no word as to why the decision was made.

Last year, EA Sports came out with a Wii U version of Madden NFL 13 which was met with mostly positive reviews.

This marks the first time a Madden game hasn’t come out on a Nintendo console in 22 years.
